As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team.

Position Overview:
The Construction Estimator plays a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of projects. This position is responsible for accurately estimating the costs of residential and commercial construction projects, from initial bid to project award. The Estimator will also be responsible for procurement-related tasks, ensuring that materials and subcontractor services are secured in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Estimation:
o Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs from project drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents.
o Analyse project requirements and develop comprehensive cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor bids.
o Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to understand project scope and specifications.
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, and pricing to ensure accurate estimates.

• Bid Preparation:
o Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals to potential clients, adhering to deadlines.
o Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes for their services and materials.
o Review and analyse bid documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
o Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as necessary.

• Procurement:
o Source and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best value for materials and services.
o Negotiate terms and pricing with subcontractors and suppliers.
o Create and maintain a database of approved subcontractors and suppliers.
o Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely delivery of materials and services to meet project timelines.

• Cost Analysis and Value Engineering:
o Continuously evaluate and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options to maximize project profitability.
o Collaborate with project teams to make informed decisions regarding cost implications and alternatives.

• Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bid documents, and correspondence.
o Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to estimating and procurement activities.
o Assist in the development of project budgets and cost tracking.

• Qualifications:
o Proven experience in construction estimating, particularly in residential and commercial projects for a principle contractor.
o Strong knowledge of construction materials and methods.
o Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Adobe, Excel).
o Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
o Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
o Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
o Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
o Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o Knowledge of procurement processes and strategies.
